I can also understand you being mad that your things were moved around. I would've been mad too. You know, even if it is someone else's home, it's important to respect personal boundaries and at least have a discussion about what the homeowner needs to happen lol before going in there and doing it themself. Especially with adult children~ it just seems pretty important to me to be diplomatic about the whole thing to promote living together harmony!
I've never lived in the family home after moving out for school, but while I was a minor, I think my mom rifled through my things with extreme relish. lol. Why she did that, I really don't know. Maybe looking for drugs? The porn stash? Anyway, I don't think that helped our relationship haha.
While my husband and I were dating, his sister actually lived with me for two years. She was really messy and didn't want to see the floor of her bedroom or dust or vacuum or clean her connected bathroom or whatever... but we sat down to have a talk about it once where I laid down some ground rules... like no food or drink in the bedroom and I'd ask her to pick everything up off the floor once a week so I could come in and vacuum, and she allowed me to clean the bathroom every other week or whatever~ lol I think she would have liked it if I was her personal maid. Where was I going with this? Haha.
