I know I was suppose to do a book update but I am so sad at the moment.  One of my favorite bookstores is closing.

I thought Borders was having bidders but it looks like they are going to liquadate.   I am so sad.  Mainly because I have come to think of the people at the bookstore that I go to as my friends and I am so sad they are going to be losing their jobs.  I know I will still be able to keep in contact with them on Facebook and maybe livejournal, but it is not that same as going in and talking to them and seeing them.

My heart goes out to my friends at Borders and all of the other workers I am hoping even though this economy stinks that you will all be able to find jobs and will be okay.

I am also sad that we are losing another bookstore chain.  Other then B&N there isn't any other bookstores around here.  I think it is the same in many other cities.  All of the bookstores seem to be going away.

I will miss Borders and seeing my special friends at the Exton Borders!!!

Joni, We'll miss you too - but maybe Books A Million will take the space. That happened in Coventry, so you never know ...

Thanks for always being such a great friend :)

If books a million did take it over would they keep you on and the rest of the staff? That would be the best but if they wouldn't keep you and the rest it just wouldn't be the same!

I am serious when I say no other store has ever been as good to their customers as you have to yours!

You know I will try to keep in touch with both you and Michelle on Facebook and Livejournal. If you end up working someplace else in a books store or some other store I would try and come and see you. I have come to think of you and Michelle as friends and that is what is upsetting me the most is that my friends are going to be out of a job and I am upset for both of you and everyone else that works there. I really hope that it will work out one way or another for each and everyone of you.

I was sad to read about this too. =/ Gives me a shudder to see the bookstores thinning out, especially Borders which has (had *gulp*) been a large presence in Houston. It's weird to think, with the way things are going, some day very soon it'll be next to impossible to walk into a bookstore! Immediate gratification might come from a Kindle or other e-reader, but how sad and solitary is that? Meh!

I have to agree immediate gratification can come from an e-reader but I could also walk into a bookstore and get just a much gratification by looking at all of the different books and deciding which one to buy and read. Plus the employees at the Borders I was going to where amazing. I have never been treated so well before. They where so helpful with the selections and I got to know some of them and consider them my friends.

I had never been to a books signing before and was so nervous the first time I attended one that they had. I loved going to the book signing they treated the authors so well and had fun things going on for the book signing while you waited in line and before the author showed up.

It will be really sad if there where no more bookstores around. I don't even like that the music and movie stores are almost all gone. Technology is great for some things but I still say there is nothing better then having a book in your hands while you are reading.
