CI Yaoi community what they are doing and asking for is not right

I hereby announce that I condemn CI YAOI - http://community.livejournal.com/ci_yaoi - for what they are doing. They steal download links and files from scanlation groups, post and reshare the files without permission from the groups. They have no respect whatsoever to the people who buy the books, scan and translate those projects.

I condemn them and I won't have anything to do with them. I don't tolerate such actions. I hereby state that I am not a member of CI YAOI community and I will never steal from any scanlation groups or re-share without permission.


I do not belong to CI Yaoi but from what I read on one site they are asking for people to get them information and stories from groups that are locked down. That isn't right! Groups lock down their membership because of people not following rules. If everyone followed the rules I don't think the groups would be locked down. I think it is wrong for what they are asking and doing.

Everyone is posting the same thing - it feels like I'm reading Facebook. lol

But what a shame. When I first started reading scans, it was such a friendlier community of people. Now with Libre sending out cease and desist letters, DM Guild asking their workers to report on scanlation groups, and scanlating groups becoming so possessive and member selective - it's just not as plesant as it used to be.

Not sure if you belong to the one group but it is one of the things they are asking members to post for others to beware of what CI Yaoi is doing. Especially since the post they showed has CI Yaoi group asking people if they would give them the stories from the locked down groups.

I have always tried to follow the rules because I love to read the stories and all of the scanalation teams do all of the work, they buy the books (or find the material), and they scan, clean, translate and share them. I appreciate all of the hard work and time they put in and I am happy to follow whatever rules they say. I am always double checking before I post a story to see if someone changed the rules or if it was licensed so I don't share it.

Yep it does seem that it used to be friendlier when I first started reading back in 2007. I think the C&D letters got most of the teams worried and they either made the rules stricter or the teams just disbanded and didn't want to get in trouble. I had heard from someone that DMG was going after groups. Not sure I like them going after groups, they should only ask if something is licensed that the group remove it from their sites. I don't think there is any reason that DMG should be told what the scan groups are doing.

Hi, I'm just chiming in. I had never even heard of CI Yaoi before all these people started posting condemning them. What did they do? I do agree with the previous poster as a long time member of the yaoi community I would follow all the groups and always respect their rules. But now it seems like the community is no longer a fun place and many new people who have discovered yaoi probably feel alienated. I did when I was purged from a group when I was hospitalized and when I went to the Livejournal of the maintainer there was a statement saying that if you missed the announcement you must not follow the group closely which was not true in my case. Anyway. I was just curious what CI Yaoi did?

I sent you an message I really don't know a lot about CI Yaoi only that they are asking for people to share their stories from groups that they no longer have access to, since the groups have locked down their membership.

Yep when I first started reading Yaoi I was new at it all, and was afraid to even comment on a site, and download a story. Then as I got more into it I realized it was the right thing to do was to thank the groups that put so much time and effort into the stories and shared them. When I first started there where a lot more groups and each one had different rules, but most of the groups where friendly, nice and didn't have to worry about locking people out because every one respected the groups and followed whatever rules they had.

Hmmm, all those announcements and links, CI got a pretty nice advertisement. (~_o) I, like many others, didn’t know about them before.

I wouldn’t just blame people breaking rules, many people would like to follow the rules, but they have no chance even to join. Not that I think, it’s only bad when a group is closed for new members (for reasonable time?), but than the groups can’t be surprised that ‘outsiders’ will try to find other ways. This doesn’t mean that agree with what CI is doing, just a though.

Well, the best is if a book gets licensed in English or other languages fast enough so people can buy them, assuming they really want to support the mangaka.

Good point they are getting advertisement but I am not sure if it is nice advertisement. But maybe they think it is since everyone is talking about them.

Yes it is hard to get the stories once the site is locked down and closed for membership, I know I was part of some of the group when they did them it was mainly because people kept posting their stories when they kept asking everyone not to. Being a poster on one community I have tried to follow the rules, that way I don't cause any problems for the groups and for myself by being kicked out. There are a few groups that still let people share their stories, which makes me happy because I like to read along with others. But if any of those groups asked that I stopped I would because I would like to follow their wishes and not cause any problems.

Right now I am sorta like the people that are out of groups I have found a few stories I want to read from groups that are long gone but they had a no sharing policy so you really can't find their stories anymore since the website is gone and no one was allowed to share. It makes me sad that I will not be able to read these stories. Especially after all the hard work the groups put into them and gone once the websites are gone all of their hardwork is gone.

Yep have to agree it would be best if all of the books got licensed in English then everyone could support the mangaka. This past year I haven't brought as many as I usually do, I am very far behind with the releases from June, and with the DMG haven't gotten to buy any yet. Even though I have listed the one's I want. Hoping this year that I can get the list somewhat caught up and figure out what reader I want to buy then get the DMG stories.

And here comes the motivation for learning a new language to a decent level to be able to read the stories. (~_o)

Well, there is still hope, either that a story will be published in English or, if not and if the translation is lost but the story was really good, that there is a chance that a new group will pick it up and re-do it again.

Last year, I bought quite a few manga books and there are still quite a few on my 'must have' list that I'd like to see licensed in English. Glad that novels are getting more attention, too.

CI YAOI sure is scary, because of them some scanlation making their guard double. But their account seems to be purged, it's because of what their doing is wrong or they just shut down themselves?

This world of scanlation sure is becoming more warned about someone who might be stealing their work,,
